Practicing Double Exposure!

In Gary’s lesson I practiced more double exposure to get ready for the project which I have been set. As I go along I am finding it easier and I am getting the hang of it. The only problem is that I have never used double exposure on a video only pictures. I am going to have to practice on videos for when I start my actual project.

I don’t think it will be too hard. I have pretty much mastered the double exposure on still images.

Here are a few examples.

Jon Bellion Double Exposure and precomp

This is one which I done last week. It is of my favorite musician Jon Bellion. It has one of his albums (Translations through Speakers) and a crowd (as he is a musician) and they are added together. I also used pre composition for this double exposure. I took the crowd and the translations through speakers album cover and added them together in a pre composition so I could add them to the image of Jon Bellion.

Jon bellion After effects double exposure

This is another double exposure. However this one doesn’t have the translations through speakers album from the pre comp. But they are added together and it looks okay but better with the album cover over the top.

To prepare for the 5-10 second video double exposure I need to get a video of myself. I don’t know what I am going to do for the video right now however I am sure I will think of something. I will then most likely practice some after effects at home.

Reference work with Tony!

In Tony’s lesson today I worked on getting reference images for the pachinko machine. The images were based in Japan as the pachinko machine originates from Japan.

The other week we created a mind map of stuff from Japan and pachinko machines. I thought of stuff such as money as the pachinko machines were used for gambling, I thought of gangs which were the ones gambling etc. Most of the stuff coming to mind I would need to draw as references and see what I come up with.

This is what I came up with this lessonBLOG POST TONY

More after effects!

In the lesson with Gary he showed the class how to pre compose. It is basically taking two images and putting them together. From this pre composition I took it and added it to my double exposure.

My original double exposure was the picture of Jon Bellion with the crowd. From that double exposure I added one of his albums translations through speakers. However I added the album and crowd together with the pre composition and then added it to the image of Jon Bellion.

This double exposure/pre comp is of my favorite musician Jon Bellion. It has one of his albums like I said and a crowd. They are added together to create this image. Using the pre composition for this double exposure was fun.

Animation Shorts + Animation of a bouncy ball!

In the animation you can see squash and stretch being used. Squash and stretch gives the object weight and flexibility like a bouncy ball and in this animation, the lamp is bouncing up and down on a bouncy ball showing squash and stretch when it flattens and bounces back to shape.

Another thing in the animation is when the lamp jumps. When it jumps, the wire trailing behind it moves up and down. This is secondary action. Secondary action is when the first action happens it causes a second. The first action is the jump and the second is the wire moving up and down.

Another use of animation in the video is anticipation. The smaller lamp jumps off screen to get the ball and the wire stops moving. The bigger lamp looks to where the smaller lamp went off screen and the wire starts to move and the smaller lamp comes back onto the screen. Anticipation is preparing the audience for what is about to happen and that is what the bigger lamp done

Also in Matt’s lesson I animated a bouncy ball. The bouncy ball looks very rough for now as I haven’t added any squashes or stretches in. Also with the animation I need to add more key frames as some parts of the animation are quite fast and one of the bounces on the ball is far too long and I need to shorten that to add to that realism.

I used things such as key sets and character set. The character set makes the animation easier as when I apply a key set it applies it to all of the ball instead of just some of it.

Overall, the bouncy ball looks OK. A lot more could be done as I said to fix it and make it more realistic but I am going to try some animation at home and see what I can do with a bouncy ball at home.

Pendulum animation!

In today’s lesson with Matt we animated a pendulum swinging. In the lesson we used things such as key frames. The Key frames are indicators of important frames and what make the animation. We also used a character set which Matt prepared for us. The character set is used to put all of the keys together.

I have a couple of problems with my animation like a couple of jolts when I play the animation. It moves forward and then backwards again but that is because of the key frames and the way I have put them. On one key frame I have moved it further forward and then on another moved it back so it looks like it is jolting backwards. I just need to move the key frame forward and it should flow smoothly instead of having the jolt in which it currently has.

Here is the link to the animation.

1st Part of Chris’ lesson!

In the first part of Chris’ lesson I started to get the basics of a pachinko game. It consists of only physics so far where the ball bounces off the circles.

In today’s lesson I used tools on unity such as changing the external script editor to the built in unity one. I then created a new scene and in the scene I created a sprite. I then laid out the sprites in order of the level. I laid them out to what I felt like would of been a nice level however I did have to edit a few parts due to the ball flying out of the map. To fix this I will add a border onto the game.

I then created a pinball by creating a game object and renaming it “Pinball”.  I resized it and moved it to the top of the level. On top of the Pinball character I created a rigidbody. The rigidbody is what makes the player fall. It gives you the gravity, angular drag etc. Each of these can be altered to my liking.

I then added a circular edge collider onto the pins which the pinball hits. Now the level works. However I still needed to do some further editing, I took the ball and added a Physics2D material which edits how high the ball bounces on collision with the pins. I edited this to my liking and now have a fully working Physics level.

Pachinko Game

Pachinko machines

A pachinko machine is a type of mechanical game. It originates from Japan and is used as a form of recreational game or a gambling device.

To use a Pachinko machine you put your money into the machine and press the ball release button which does what it says… it releases a ball. The ball release button has its own name. It is called the tamakashi button. Once the ball is released you turn the handle and try and fit through the gaps however you must watch out for doors which block your way.

Here are some examples of Pachinko machines.

Each machine is filled with brass bars The objective of this part is to get 3 numbers or symbols in a row for a jackpot.

Exposure work – Adobe After Effects!

In today’s lesson with Gary he showed us what we are going to be doing over the next few weeks. That is going to be double exposure. Gary showed us a clip of a TV show called True Detectives which uses Double exposure in the introduction credits. After this he showed us how to create a double exposure image and from there it wasn’t too difficult.

The image I wanted to create was of my favorite singer Jon Bellion. Because he is a singer I wanted to put a crowd over the top of him and that’s exactly what I did. I took an image of a crowd and put it over the top of the first image using the TrakMat tool. Using the TrakMat tool I set the concert image to alpha therefore the only thing showing was the part of the crowd on top of Jon Bellion. The finished product looks good and I’m very happy how to first attempt came out.

Here is what it looks like!Jon bellion After effects double exposure

As you can see, the crowd is on top of Jon Bellion and it isn’t showing over anything else on the image.

Machete – Work from home!

Over the course of a week I set myself a mini project to create a machete. I didn’t work on the machete every single day it was more of a 30 mins every other day to get it finished. Collectively it took me around about 2 hours to get the machete perfect and work can still be done to improve it.

This is the finished textured product. As you can see I have the wooden handle with the steel plated screws which would be to keep the handle in place if it was a real machete.Machete

Spaceship for Matt Finished!

In Matt’s lesson I finished my spaceship. After finishing my UV unwrapping I took a UV screenshot of the UV Map and put it into photoshop. After messing around for around about 5 minutes with different colour’s I finally had a colour for the spaceship which I liked. I felt it wasn’t too bright and it was a nice contrast between the 2 different colours.

This is what it looked like before during and after. The way I textured it was simple. I only used basic colour’s instead of getting an actual texture from a texture website. I felt like because it was my first time texturing and the UV map was quite complicated for the first time I would use basic colour’s such as the red and the grey. However, the next time I texture I will 100% try and use an actual texture and see how it looks.
